Marla maples why divorce

In the early '90s, it was difficult to find a tabloid that didn't have Donald Trump and his first wife, Ivana, on the cover. They two were embroiled in a messy divorce after Trump cheated on her with actress Marla Maples. And when Maples and Trump split just six years later, the reason as to why Trump and Maples got divorced became headline news yet again.

Maples and Trump separated after four years of marriage, according to the New York Post. Ironically, it was triggered by a May National Enquirer cover.

Trump went nuclear over the article, said the source. Trump and Maples separated the following year. Maples moved to California where she raised Tiffany, and largely stayed out of public view. But during the campaign, she thought about breaking her silence.

According to the source, she wrote a memoir that would detail the marriage. She even had spoken to a publisher, the source said: Judith Regan. Regan did not respond to a request for comment.
